**Note: These notes etc aren't final and are simply in the planning stage for now.
Gaia[/u]
The world where the story takes place, the main kingdoms and the Zodiac Families rule here, the Gaian's have long been in conflict with the inhabitants and creatures of Oblivion. Gaia orbits the two suns in a figure-eight. When passing between the two suns, the tempurature rises exponentially on the surface and many people retreat into the underground sector of their towns or cities. Day lasts for several weeks during this period as Gaia passes between the suns. When orbiting on the outer side of only one sun, the temperature drops to a more comfortable tempurature for many months and the majority of the year, with slight moderation in temperature depending on which sun is the nearest. The years are refered to differently depending on which sun the planet is currently orbitting. When orbitting a full cycle around the Red sun, the year is refered to as a 'Crimson Year'. When orbitting a full cycle around the Blue sun, the year is refered to as an 'Azure Year'. The differences between 'Crimson' and 'Azure' years is the time it takes to orbit each sun, and the temperature difference between the two. Because of many different factors of the suns and the inner composition of Gaia, technological advances with electrical machines and such are impossible. To compensate, they have developed a different method of advancing civilization. Humans used Rune and magic to advance their civilizations.
Oblivion[/u]
Otherwise thought of as the 'otherworld' or a sort of Hell, Oblivion is considered the place of all evil by the Gaian's and their eternal enemy. They do not believe in the Zodiac Dieties and instead believe in the nine Tailed Dieties of Oblivion, a set of nine gods in order by the number of tails each has.
The Twin Suns
Two Suns support Gaia. They are the Azure Sun and Crimson Sun.(more info to come)
Gaia's Moons[/u]
Gaia has two moons. One is a reflective moon that captures the colors of nearbye things on it's surface, seeming to change color and shade periodically. This moon is named Aurora. The other moon is a glossy black moon that is vaguelly visible at night and near unnoticable except in the earliest hours of morning when the sky grows lighter. The surface is hard, slippery, and black, but shiny and reflective, like black shale. This moon is refered to as Shadow.
Ecliptic Wars
Several times over Gaia's long history, a perfect Eclipse occurs where all of the Celestial Bodies line up in a perfect line in the order of Shadow, Gaia, Aurora, and the two suns, with either the Azure Sun or the Crimson Sun eclipsing the other, and turning Aurora purple. When this Eclipse occurs, full blown war erupts between Oblivion and Gaia. When the Azure Sun eclipses the Crimson sun, the Gaian's win. However, when the Crimson Sun eclipses the Azure Sun, the inhabitants of Oblivion win. It's believed that the reason for this is that the position of Gaia in contrast to the position of each sun strengthens one side exponentially by comparison to the other. It's widely believed that the Zodiac Dieties draw their strength from the Azure Sun, while the nine Tailed Dieties of Oblivion draw their strength from the Crimson Sun.
Eclipse of Darkest Shadows
Rarest of all Eclipses over Gaia is the 'Eclipse of Darkest Shadows'. This Eclipse happens once every 157,000 years, when each of the Celestial Bodies lines up in a perfect line. This time, though, Gaia reaches the very center point between the two suns, and the two moons line up on either side of Gaia between it and both Suns, plunging Gaia into complete darkness until Gaia's orbit takes it from the center between the two suns. This day is feared by both the Gaian's and the inhabitants of Oblivion, believed to be a 'cursed' day. Many years earlier the 'Eclipse of Darkest Shadows' occured. Afterwards, several Dieties on both sides vanished, and horrible creatures worse and more deadly than any creatures even Oblivion has appeared and began plaguing both Gaia and Oblivion.
